Visual artist Connie Saems possesses the ability to enter fully into another artist’s imaginative world, working in true sympatico. When her subject is swimming, she swims, as she does in her rendering of poet Christine Jones’ book-length poem Limb of Water (One Bird Books, 2025).

What emerges on the page feels fluid, buoyant, and alive. In her alliance with poet Wendy Drexler’s Harvest of What Remains (Lily Poetry Books, 2026), Saems' art enhances individual poems as well as section pages that vibrate with two strands of intersecting letter drawings, one that enacts the poet's journey as she navigates being a primary caregiver for her husband, who has Alzheimer's, and the other that reflects the progressive scattering of her husband's mind.
